Key takeaways
- You need four things. They are a wallet on Robinhood Chain (chain ID 4663), ETH on the chain for gas, a place to trade, and the token's exact contract address.
- New tokens trade on launchpads such as Pons, long.xyz, pools.trade and Flap.sh. Graduated tokens trade on DEXs such as Uniswap, the chain's largest venue. Robinhood endorses none of them.
- Copycat tickers are everywhere. Between 16 and 28 July, 354 impostor 'GME' tokens out-traded the real one two to one. Always buy by contract address, never by name.
- Check the token before you buy. Look at the contract, liquidity against market cap, bundled holders, and the deployer's history.
- Memecoins are extremely high-risk. On the largest launchpad, 66.8% of wallets finished a month with less than they started.

To buy a memecoin on Robinhood Chain you need four things.
- A wallet connected to Robinhood Chain (chain ID 4663).
- ETH on Robinhood Chain to pay for gas and the purchase.
- A place to trade, which can be a launchpad for brand-new tokens, a DEX such as Uniswap for established ones, or a trading app.
- The token's exact contract address, checked before you buy.
This guide walks through each step on mobile and desktop, with the safety checks most guides skip.
Step 1. Set up a wallet that supports Robinhood Chain
You have two main options.
Robinhood Wallet (mobile). Robinhood's docs list Robinhood Wallet, on iOS and Android, as supporting Robinhood Chain [1]. It's a self-custody wallet app, separate from the Robinhood investing app. Its built-in swaps route through Uniswap, Rialto, Lighter, Arcus and 1inch [14].
Any EVM browser wallet (desktop or mobile). Robinhood Chain "is compatible with EVM Wallets (MetaMask and more)" [1]. Add the network manually with these official settings [1][2].
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Network name | Robinhood Chain |
| Chain ID | 4663 |
| RPC URL | https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com/ |
| Currency symbol | ETH |
| Block explorer | https://robinhoodchain.blockscout.com |
Step 2. Get ETH onto Robinhood Chain
Robinhood Chain uses ETH as its gas token, so you need ETH on the chain before you can do anything. Robinhood's bridging docs list these official routes [3].
- The canonical Arbitrum bridge is trustless. Deposits from Ethereum usually arrive within about 10 minutes, but withdrawals back take about 7 days.
- Intent-based bridges such as Relay and Across arrive in seconds from many chains.
- Other partner routes include Stargate, Chainlink Transporter, and LiFi or 0x cross-chain swaps.
Our bridging guide compares the routes step by step. If you're buying ETH on an exchange, check whether it supports withdrawals straight to Robinhood Chain. If it doesn't, withdraw to Ethereum or another supported chain and bridge from there.
How much ETH? Your buy, plus a buffer for at least a few more transactions (the approval, the sell, and possibly a failed attempt). Gas is usually cheap but spiked about 25 times in early September. See Robinhood Chain gas fees.
Step 3. Choose where to buy
Where a memecoin trades depends on its stage.
| Where | What trades there | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Launchpads (Pons, long.xyz, pools.trade, Flap.sh and others) | Brand-new tokens on a bonding curve | Pons had about 60% of launchpad volume on 1 September [4]. Pons geo-blocks the UK. pools.trade (Uniswap Labs) charges no launchpad fee [10]. |
| DEXs (Uniswap, the chain's primary AMM) | Tokens that have graduated from a launchpad, and other established tokens | Uniswap handled about 77% of chain volume in early September [4] |
| Trading apps and terminals (e.g. GMGN, Fomo, Axiom, BasedBot, Maestro, Banana Gun) | Both, with extra tools | Third-party apps that charge their own per-trade fee, so check each one's fee page |
| Robinhood Wallet swaps | Tokens its routing supports | Routes through Uniswap, Rialto, Lighter, Arcus and 1inch |
Robinhood doesn't endorse any launchpad, app or token. Its docs say ecosystem listings don't "constitute an endorsement, partnership, affiliation, sponsorship, or warranty" [12], and none of the memecoin launchpads above appears on its ecosystem page.
Step 4. Get the exact contract address
On Robinhood Chain, names and tickers mean nothing on their own. Anyone can deploy a token called anything. Between 16 and 28 July, Bitquery found that 361 contracts used the ticker GME. The 354 impostors out-traded the real token by two to one. Holders of ticker-impersonating tokens had a median loss of 52.4% [6].
- Get the address from an official source, such as the project's own X account or website. Don't use replies, DMs or "CA?" posts from strangers.
- Check it on the official explorer. Paste it into robinhoodchain.blockscout.com. Confirm the name, the holder count and that trading activity looks real.
- Paste the full address into your trading app. Don't search by name.
- Check the first and last several characters every time. Look-alike addresses are built to match the start and end.
Step 5. Check the token before you buy
This is the step that saves money. At minimum, check these four things. Our rug-pull checklist covers them in depth.
- The contract. Is the source verified on the explorer? Can the owner mint, pause, blacklist or change taxes? Does a test sell work, or is it a honeypot?
- Liquidity against market cap. A big market cap on a small pool can't absorb selling. At its peak in July, CASHCAT had a market value of about $105 million against roughly $6.6 million of pool liquidity [9]. See liquidity pool.
- Holders, with linked wallets grouped. Look for bundled buying. In the operation an analyst linked to 53 Robinhood Chain launches, "nearly every launch was sniped for 70% or more of its supply by bundles of 70 to 200 wallets", as reported by The Block [8]. The findings are alleged and not independently replicated. Our guide to bundled launches shows how to spot them.
- The deployer. Has the deployer wallet launched tokens before, and what happened to them?
Token Check
Check a token before you buy it
Step 6. Place the buy
- Size small. Decide the most you're willing to lose on this trade, and buy no more than that.
- Set slippage deliberately. Too tight and the trade fails, and failed trades still cost gas. Too loose and you overpay or get exploited. In one documented case, bots front-ran thousands of app orders, many of which had slippage limits of 35–45% [13].
- Don't pay extra priority fees. Robinhood Chain orders transactions first-come, first-served, so a higher fee won't get you in sooner.
- Watch for hidden fees. Bitquery found that the largest Uniswap v4 hook on the chain "advertises a fee of zero and takes a median of one percent of each swap" [7]. Compare what you expected to receive with what arrived.
Step 7. Plan your exit before you need it
- Approvals come first. Selling a token usually needs a one-time approval transaction, so keep ETH for it.
- Graduation is often the top. On Pons, Bitquery found the median graduated coin sat 85% below its first hour [5].
- Watch who's selling. The wallets that were early are the ones most likely to sell into later buyers. That's the core of exit liquidity. Amplified's Position Guardian alerts you when the wallets behind your entry start leaving.
- If you can't sell, don't keep retrying. See can't sell a token on Robinhood Chain?
Mobile or desktop?
- Mobile. Robinhood Wallet and mobile-first trading apps are the quickest route. They're built for convenience rather than for checking tokens. Do your checks first.
- Desktop. Web terminals and a browser wallet give you more tools and easier contract and holder checks on the explorer.
Either way, the steps and the risks are the same.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need Robinhood Wallet to buy memecoins on Robinhood Chain?
No. Robinhood Wallet supports Robinhood Chain, but the chain works with any EVM wallet that lets you add a custom network, such as MetaMask. Add chain ID 4663 with the RPC and explorer from Robinhood's docs. Many traders also use third-party terminals or apps that create or connect a wallet for them.
What do I need to pay gas on Robinhood Chain?
ETH, held on Robinhood Chain itself. Robinhood's docs state that the chain uses ETH as its native gas token. Keep a buffer beyond your buy, because approving and selling a token also cost gas, and failed transactions still pay.
Where do new Robinhood Chain memecoins launch?
Mostly on launchpads that price new tokens on a bonding curve. Pons was the largest in early September, with about 60% of launchpad volume on 1 September per CoinDesk Research. long.xyz, Uniswap Labs' pools.trade and Flap.sh are others. None appears on Robinhood's official ecosystem page, and Robinhood says listing there isn't an endorsement anyway.
How do I know I'm buying the real token?
Only by its contract address. Names and tickers can be copied freely, and impersonator tokens are common on Robinhood Chain. Get the address from the project's official channels, check it on the official explorer, robinhoodchain.blockscout.com, and paste the full address into your trading app instead of searching by name.
Is it safe to buy memecoins on Robinhood Chain?
No memecoin purchase is safe in the sense of protected. Robinhood Chain has documented wash-trading rings, bundled launches and an alleged rug-pull operation linked to 53 launches. You can reduce avoidable risks by checking the contract, liquidity, holders and deployer first, and by only using money you can afford to lose entirely.
